The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will shift traffic at US-80 and Marler Road into a roundabout configuration on Wednesday, March 25, as construction on the intersection improvement project advances.
Last month, traffic was shifted to allow crews to safely complete construction on the north side of the roundabout. With this next phase, motorists will begin using the circle while work continues.
Crews will still be working on the center island and preparing for final paving and permanent striping. Drivers are urged to adhere to the reduced speed limit and stay alert for people and equipment within the work zone.
ALDOT encourages drivers unfamiliar with roundabouts to watch its short “ALDOT Zero to 60” video for tips on navigating a roundabout and to learn more about their safety benefits. Additional details are available through ALDOT News.
According to ALDOT, the contractor remains on schedule to complete the roundabout project this spring.
