The Town of Pike Road is inviting residents and area guests of all ages to get a firsthand look at local agriculture during “Night Out on the Farm,” a free, family-friendly event set for Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Town of Pike Road Agriculture, Recreation, and Performing Arts Park, 6281 Trotman Road.
Attendees can expect an evening of hands-on activities, farm animals, tractors, and agricultural equipment, along with interactive exhibits highlighting livestock, forestry, and crops. Local 4-H members and Junior Cattlemen will be on site to showcase their livestock and engage with visitors.
“Our community needs to know we don’t just go to the grocery store to buy our food. We need to know where it comes from,” said Mary Norman with the Montgomery County Extension. “It’s going to be fun watching children who may have never seen a live animal that they can walk up and touch.”
Organizers say the event is designed to bridge the gap between local farms and the community, offering educational experiences for children and adults who may not fully realize the journey food takes from farm to table.
In addition to the educational exhibits, visitors can browse the Farm Fresh Marketplace, featuring local vendors with fresh produce, honey, plants, flowers, baked goods, handmade items, and other agriculture-related products—an opportunity to support area producers and discover the diversity of Alabama agriculture.
