Possible Tornado Impacts Pike Road

by Pike Road News

In the early hours of Sunday, December 29th, the town of Pike Road, AL, experienced the terrifying force of strong storms, wind, and a possible tornado. The powerful storm tore through the area, leaving a trail of destruction throughout the town. Residents woke up to scenes of property damage and downed trees scattered across the town.

Mayor Gordon Stone of Pike Road expressed his profound gratitude that there were no reports of serious injuries amidst the storms and damage in a statement on Sunday at 9:38 am. In the statement issued after the storm, Mayor Stone commended the residents for heeding the advice of local weather experts and taking necessary precautions to stay safe.

“We thank the Lord that we do not have any reports of serious injury due to the dangerous storms that we experienced last night in the Town of Pike Road. Our residents were smart and followed the advice of local weather experts,” Mayor Stone stated.

“We are aware of multiple locations where property was impacted. Local officials from the Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency are currently visiting the locations to assess,” said Mayor Stone.

“We are also very, very appreciative of our fire departments, Montgomery County EMA, road service teams, sheriff’s department, state troopers, power/utility crews and helpful neighbors. Each of these teams have been and are actively working to assist those in need,” Stone continued.

“All road systems are functional, and power crews are at work. However, with the trees down across the area, we encourage people to be careful and patient. If you have an emergency, please call 911 so proper responders can be notified.”

As some Pike Road residents clean up after the storms, other neighbors come together to support one another and rebuild in the face of adversity.
