Pike Road senior Braylon Outlaw has made his next step official, signing to play college football at Georgia Tech. For Outlaw, the decision came down to fit—on the field, in the classroom, and in the culture he felt from the Yellow Jackets’ program.
“I felt it was a better opportunity for me on and off the football field,” Outlaw said, reflecting on why he chose Georgia Tech over his other offers. “I knew based off the football program and how it is run, as well as the education side of things. It all felt perfect for me.”
The significance of signing early wasn’t lost on him, either. “Signing day meant a lot for me,” he said. “It’s a big thing to be able to sign to a college early, and also be able to be with other teammates and sign.”
Outlaw’s choice highlights what has become a defining theme of his journey: balance and intentionality. He’s drawn to the rigor and opportunity that come with Georgia Tech’s academics, and he plans to study business. “I plan to always have a set plan of what I have to get done each day, making sure I equally split my time with football and academics,” he said.
On the football side, the Georgia Tech staff has been clear about how they envision him. “The Georgia Tech coaching staff has described my role as a very versatile player. I see myself fitting very well into their scheme.” That word—versatile—speaks to both his on-field skill set and his approach to growth. Confidence, he admits, has been the biggest challenge of his high school career. “At one point I didn’t have much, but I continued to work day in and day out.” It’s a revealing line for a player whose game now projects to one of college football’s biggest stages. Signing day was also a moment to look back at Pike Road and the teammates and coaches who shaped his path. “I will miss being able to play on the same field as them,” he said of his PR teammates. “All the hard work we put in and the time spent together will be remembered.” To his coaches, he offered a simple message that carried weight: “Thank you for always pushing me, and helping me reach my potential.”
Georgia Tech, known for its demanding academics and tradition-rich football, gives Outlaw the platform he sought: a place where the standard is high and the expectations are clear.
