The 2026 Pike Road Whiskey A-Go-Go returns on April 18, raising funds for Pike Road Schools after a milestone year that helped purchase a dedicated transport truck for instruments, sets, and uniforms.
“Last year we gave twenty five thousand dollars to buy a big truck for hauling all of the music equipment, the band and the show choir,” said organizer Dr. Bill Cornwell. “And we hope to be able to do even more this year.”
A centerpiece of this year’s fundraiser is an ultra-limited barrel pick sourced from Claude Mays Distillery. The event committee traveled to Troy, Alabama, to hand-select the barrel.
“Our committee went to Troy, and we tasted different barrels and decided which one we thought was the very best one, and so we bought that barrel,” Cornwell said. “It’s a 7-year-old bourbon, and we were able to get 150 bottles from the barrel and will be for sale only at this year’s event with a special ‘“Pike Road Whiskey A-Go-Go” label.
Another major highlight is a chance to win the complete Weller distiller collection—set of six versions,” said Cornwell. The full set will be available to be won as part of the event’s fundraising activities.
Live entertainment will feature River Region standout John Bull, an inductee into both the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame and the Alabama Blues Hall of Fame
In a special collaboration, the Pike Road High School jazz ensemble will join Bull for a couple of songs during his break. “We thought that’d be a really cool for some of these students to be able to play before a crowd with a pretty well known blues musician,” Cornwell said.
Sweet Creek Barbecue will provide catering, and a “really nice silent auction” will showcase items donated by whiskey distilleries and distributors, including decorative wooden barrels.
