During a specially called meeting of the Pike Road Schools Board of Education on Monday, June 8, board members officially selected Jarrod Traylor as the next principal of Pike Road High School (PRHS).
Traylor steps into the leadership role following the recent promotion of Andrea Maness, who was named Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Academic Affairs for Pike Road Schools.
Prior to his appointment as principal, Traylor served as the C10 and C11 Assistant Principal at PRHS and as the school’s Building Test Coordinator. During that time, he worked alongside faculty, staff, students, and families as the school continued its growth and development.
The transition comes at a significant time for PRHS. Traylor will lead the school as it prepares to move into its new campus on Wallahatchie Road. Construction on the state-of-the-art facility is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with students scheduled to begin classes at the new location in January.
While the move represents a new chapter for the school, Traylor is already a familiar face within the Pike Road community. Having served as assistant principal for the last four years, he has played an active role in the school’s academic programs, student success initiatives, and day-to-day operations.
During the announcement, Traylor expressed appreciation for the foundation established under Maness’ leadership and shared his vision for the future of PRHS.
Traylor emphasized continuity and culture in brief remarks during the announcement. “I just hope to stand on the shoulders of Andrea Maness, who’s done a great job of building up Pike Road High School for the previous four years, and just continue to grow in everything we do,” he said.
With a new campus on the horizon and continued growth across the district, Traylor’s appointment marks the beginning of a new era for Pike Road High School while building upon the strong foundation established over the past several years.
