Pike Road Schools is proud to acknowledge the exceptional achievements of its seniors and eighth graders with the announcement of their nominees for the prestigious Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award. The award, which has been presented since 1959, celebrates Christian leadership in sports, outstanding academic performance, and community engagement among high school seniors in the Montgomery area.
Seniors Lauryn Leonard, who has excelled in golf, and Runner Stripling, an outstanding baseball player, have been selected as nominees for this esteemed award. Both students have demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership in their respective sports, academics, and community initiatives, making them deserving candidates for this esteemed recognition.
Additionally, Pike Road Schools is proud to recognize eighth graders Stratton Hanel (Football), Peyton Hornbuckle (Baseball, Basketball), Hayleigh Morris (Softball), and Eden Thompson (Softball) as nominees for the revered Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award. These young athletes have consistently exhibited the highest ideals of Christian leadership in athletics, reflecting the values that the award seeks to honor.
The YMCA of Greater Montgomery will present the highly anticipated Jimmy Hitchcock Awards to two exceptional high school students this year. The nominees have been chosen based on their embodiment of strong personal character, dependability, effort, and leadership in their teams, churches, and schools.
The Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award serves as a tribute to the legacy of Jimmy Hitchcock, who was not only a phenomenal athlete but also a community leader and devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
