The Pike Road Lions Club celebrated the installation of its 2024–25 officers and reaffirmed its commitment to service with a slate of charitable contributions and educational support totaling more than $21,000.
District 34-C Vice District Governor Lovejoy presided over the ceremony, installing President Dennis Fonville, First Vice President John Kangelos, Secretary Susan Friday, and Treasurer Ray Kyzer.
The club also honored outgoing President Lion Maurice Rollins for exemplary leadership and dedicated service. Members credited Rollins with helping drive continued growth in membership, fundraising, and community impact.
Building on another strong year of fundraising, the club announced distributions to benefit the Pike Road community and organizations serving families across Alabama. Major donations include:
- $3,500 to Children’s of Alabama in support of childhood cancer programs
- $4,300 to Camp Seale Harris, serving children and families affected by diabetes
- $3,000 to the Town of Pike Road for environmental and recycling initiatives
- $3,500 to Lions vision programs that provide sight-related services and assistance
- Additional support for hunger relief efforts and other Lions service pillars
- $4,000 in scholarships awarded to Pike Road students and teachers
The Pike Road Lions Club emphasized its ongoing mission to serve others through volunteerism, charitable giving, and educational opportunities. Guided by the Lions motto, “We Serve,” members said they look forward to another year of improving lives locally and across the state.
