Pike Road residents have a front-row opportunity to ring in spring just up the road in Montgomery. Montgomery Whitewater will launch its 2026 spring season and water release on Saturday, March 21, with the high-spirited Hootenanny Pool Float Race & Spring Kickoff—a full day of races, live music, and on-the-water entertainment designed for families, runners, paddlers, and spectators alike.
At the heart of the festivities is the Hootenanny Float Race (formerly known as Lucky Ducky), a playful, crowd-pleasing showdown that sends competitors piloting oversized pool floats through the whitewater course. It’s a photogenic, laugh-out-loud spectacle you won’t find anywhere else in the region this weekend.
The Hootenanny has quickly become a signature spring tradition for central Alabama, blending land and water programming into an all-day celebration.
