Pike Road High School standout student-athlete, Cody Kirk, announced his commitment to wrestle at the Division 1 level for the Davidson College Wildcats in Davidson, North Carolina. Kirk participated in the Pike Road High School fall signing day ceremony, where he made the announcement.
“My success is a direct result of my support system. I thank God, my family, my coaches, my teammates, and my friends for believing in me and pushing me to exceed expectations,” said Cody Kirk.
Kirk’s impressive wrestling career boasts remarkable statistics, including 249 wins, 139 pins, 19 tech falls, and 13 major decisions. He has shown exceptional skill and dedication throughout his journey, serving as a six-year varsity starter with four years at Enterprise High School and two years at Pike Road. As the returning 6A State Champion and three-time captain Kirk has consistently showcased his leadership and prowess on the wrestling mat.
The talented athlete’s list of achievements also includes being a two-time State Runner-Up and three-time Super Sectionals Champion. Heading into the AHSAA 6A State Championships, February 13-15, 2025, Kirk holds the top ranking, reflecting his unparalleled talent and exceptional work ethic.
Kirk’s dedication to wrestling extends beyond the high school season, with an impressive record in year-round wrestling. He has represented Alabama on the national stage as part of the Alabama National Team and clinched two state championships in both Greco and Freestyle wrestling events.
Hailing from a military family, Kirk was born in Hawaii and has lived in Vermont, Texas, West Virginia and Alabama. He is the son of Army Aviation Colonel Don Kirk and Medical Service Corps Veteran Tricia Kirk.
Looking ahead to the future, Kirk has goals beyond the wrestling mat. He will attend Davidson College, where he will pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Pre-Med, laying the foundation to attend medical school.
Kirk’s commitment to academic and athletic excellence exemplifies the values championed by Pike Road High School, emphasizing the importance of hard work, perseverance, and dedication.
