Pike Road senior Jordan Holmes, a versatile two-way standout and one of the state’s top playmakers, signed with Kennesaw State and plans to bring the same spark to the Owls that defined his high school career.
Holmes set the tone for his senior season with three interceptions in the opener and never stopped affecting games in all phases. He finished with 1,273 yards of total offense and 13 touchdowns while adding five interceptions on defense. His year ended prematurely with a season-ending injury in the first round of the playoffs against McGill-Toolen, but he expects to be close to full speed when his college career begins. Ranked No. 92 in the state, Holmes gives Kennesaw State valuable flexibility on either side of the ball.
“I chose Kennesaw State because they made me feel at home. They stayed connected throughout my entire journey,” Holmes said. “I knew it was the right fit for me because of the type of program they run. It’s very family-oriented.”
Signing day was a milestone he didn’t take for granted. “Signing day meant a lot to me. Many people dream of that experience and I got the chance to actually live it. I’m more than grateful,” Holmes said.
Holmes credited his faith and support system for helping him reach this point. “I most importantly thank God first because none of this would be possible without him. I also thank my family and everyone who had helped me on this journey,” Holmes said. “I just want to thank my coaches for coming in my sophomore year and trusting me and believing in me.”
He also had a message for the teammates he leaves behind at Pike Road. “Make every day count because it’ll fly by,” Holmes said, adding a heartfelt note to the community: “I just want to thank the Pike Road community for supporting me these past four years. It means the world!”
As he rehabs, Holmes is focused on returning stronger and contributing right away. “Some goals I’ve set are that I want to make an immediate impact when I return from my injury,” he said. “As for my collegiate career, I want to be the best player I can be and hopefully have a shot at the pros.”
Holmes plans to study kinesiology and approach the next level the same way he handled high school. “I plan to balance school and football like I’ve always done. School first, sports second,” he said.
He shared that his parents have been his most influential figures and said his biggest challenge has been tuning out distractions. “Without them, I probably would’ve given up many times, but they encouraged me to never give up on my dreams,” he said. “The biggest challenge I’ve faced is to not listen to the outside noise and learning to keep the main thing the main thing.”
From a three-pick opener to a late-season setback, Holmes’ senior year showcased his resilience and impact. Kennesaw State is betting those traits will translate quickly—on offense, on defense, or wherever the Owls need him most.
