The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Foundation, in partnership with Walmart, will host its annual Christmas Toy Drive on Saturday, December 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Walmart, 10710 Chantilly Parkway—just minutes from Pike Road neighborhoods.
Residents are encouraged to stop by the store entrance and drop off a new, unwrapped gift for a less-fortunate boy or girl. Organizers say community generosity each year helps ensure local children wake up to presents on Christmas morning.
“The Christmas Toy Drive is essential for our community as our economy continues to rebound from the government shut down,” Sheriff Derrick Cunningham said. “We have received numerous requests from families in Montgomery County who need assistance during this holiday season.”
The Sheriff’s Office Foundation and Walmart have teamed up annually to collect toys for local families, relying on the generosity of Montgomery County and Pike Road residents to meet growing needs during the holidays.
Sheriff Cunningham continued, “Our mission is to assist families in need and do our best to make sure every child has gifts to open on Christmas morning. One of the saddest things to witness is a child who wakes up on Christmas morning to not find gifts from Santa. This can lead to depression, peer pressure, and bullying that our children face daily. Giving back to our community is what we do. I just want to say thank you to everyone who donates a gift or give monetary donations to this cause.”
