Macon East volleyball caps 35-4 Season with AISA Class A Title

by Pike Road News

Macon East Academy volleyball finished a banner year as the AISA Class A Champions, closing a 35-4 season that featured a 24-game winning streak and the trademark blend of poise and power that has defined the program.

Led by seniors Jamya Powell (AUM commit) and Mollie Ross—who each neared major career milestones with almost 1,500 kills and 1,500 digs, respectively—along with fellow senior leader Livi Robinson, the Knights extended a remarkable run: more than 18 consecutive state tournament appearances, including 12 trips to the state finals.

The Knights’ championship push also produced three selections to the state tournament All-Tournament Team:

  • Gavin Spencer, Macon East Academy
  • Mollie Ross, Macon East Academy
  • Jamya Powell, Macon East Academy

Powell and Ross added a fitting finale to their careers by representing Macon East in the AISA All-Star Volleyball Game, where they had the chance to play for Coach Codi Berry one more time as she led the Blue Team. Powell earned MVP honors for her performance.

“This team is the definition of poise and power,” said Athletic Director Coach Codi Berry. “They are relentless competitors and I could not be more proud of the way they carried themselves this season. What a special way to cap off two incredible careers and celebrate everything these girls have accomplished. We couldn’t be more proud of you both.

“I am super proud of our athletic department and the way our kids compete. There’s nothing quite like a small school environment, and Macon East is the best around.”
