The Kiwanis Club of Pike Road is inviting the community to enjoy a discounted breakfast while supporting local students and families served by the Ronald McDonald House.
From Sept. 14-20, ticket holders can receive a pancake breakfast at the Pike Road McDonald’s for $7. The meal includes pancakes, sausage, hashbrowns and a choice of coffee or a fountain drink—a value of more than $10.
All proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis Club’s scholarship program for Pike Road seniors and the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham, according to event coordinator Jennifer Atkins and Eddie Byrd, director of marketing and community outreach for Murphy Family Restaurants.
Kiwanis Club President Steve Straughn said similar pancake fundraisers organized by Murphy Family Restaurants have made a significant impact in communities throughout Alabama.
“We are excited to be a part of this event with Murphy Family Restaurants Group and the Pike Road McDonald’s location,” Straughn said. “The Murphy family has been hosting this event in other markets for several years and has raised almost $100,000 for the Ronald McDonald House, along with other charitable contributions.”
The breakfast gives residents an opportunity to enjoy an affordable meal while helping the Kiwanis Club continue its commitment to young people in the Pike Road community. During the past five years, the club’s scholarship program has awarded $35,000 to Pike Road seniors.
The club also supports its scholarship program through several other annual fundraisers, including a 5K Family Fun Run each spring and the sale of Christmas ornaments highlighting historic Pike Road landmarks.
Straughn said this fall’s ornament will feature the original Feed Lot store, which burned in 2018 and was later rebuilt.
