Gordon Stone, the current mayor of the Town of Pike Road, is seeking reelection while emphasizing his deep-rooted desire to continue serving the community that he and his family have called home since 1997.
Growing up in Pineapple, Alabama, with his father serving as a county commissioner, Stone developed an early appreciation for local government and the opportunity it provides to make a tangible difference. This foundation inspired Stone and his wife Ellen to settle in Pike Road, where they raised their daughters and became actively involved in the town’s foundational moments, including its incorporation.
“I am running for reelection because of my desire to serve,” Stone said. “Since day one, our focus has been guided by four pillars: thoughtful planning, quality services at reasonable costs, respect for the quality of life preferences of all residents, and a strong education system we can trust.”
Stone’s involvement in Pike Road’s government started early; he served four years on the town council where he played a key role in expanding Pike Road’s municipal boundaries through legislative annexation, significantly increasing the town’s population and influence. His leadership helped shape the town’s comprehensive plans and brought innovative ideas about town centers, mixed-use development, and transportation infrastructure.
Under Stone’s tenure as mayor, Pike Road has balanced growth and progress while striving to preserve its character. Collaborating extensively with state and county partners, the town has secured funding and approval for multiple transportation projects, including roundabouts and improvements on major intersections, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving safety.
Mayor Stone also highlighted the town’s successful partnership with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department for public safety, noting excellent response times and community policing efforts. He affirmed the town’s commitment to monitoring and adapting strategies to maintain a safe environment for all residents.
Education remains a central focus. Since establishing its own school system — now with four campuses and an A rating on the state report card — Pike Road has made significant strides in providing quality education, with continued collaborative financial planning between the town and school board to support future capital projects.
Stone’s vision for his next term includes continuing the momentum on quality of life initiatives, infrastructure development, and economic growth. “Our Quality of Life program alone has over 200 items on its wish list,” Stone said. “We want Pike Road to remain a beacon of hope for Central Alabama — a place where families love to live, learn, and grow.”
The mayor attributes much of Pike Road’s success to collaborative leadership and strong partnerships with regional planning organizations, utility providers, and community volunteers. His thoughtful approach to governance is shaped by his faith and belief in serving the community with humility and dedication.
As Stone looks ahead to the future, his message is clear: “Every resident of Pike Road has a seat at our table. I would appreciate the opportunity to serve four more years to keep building on this wonderful community that so many of us cherish.”
