The Town of Pike Road has been committed to hosting community events to bring all parts of the town together since it was incorporated in 1997. The Annual Town of Pike Road Christmas Spectacular is always a festive way to enjoy the Holiday Season with other residents, neighbors, and friends.
In anticipation of this year’s Christmas Spectacular, we interviewed the Town of Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone to understand more about the significance of this event, the community spirit it fosters, and details about what attendees can expect.
Mayor Stone emphasized the importance of community events like the Christmas Spectacular, noting that “Pike Road began as a town when people from a variety of grassroots neighborhoods came together to organize themselves as one municipality.” We recognize that we function best when these different groups of people know each other and feel connected to each other as a community because it only makes us stronger”, said Mayor Stone.
Mayor Stone added, “We formed a Community Development Team in Pike Road to focus on togetherness for the betterment of our community, and we are so committed to providing a full array of programming that meets people where their passions are and allows for engagement within by people from all across our community.”
“The Christmas Spectacular serves an opportunity to showcase some of our local talent, allows our businesses to receive additional focus, and helps people meet their neighbors in a way they wouldn’t otherwise have occasion to do,” said Mayor Stone.
This year’s Christmas Spectacular will feature holiday tunes & performances from the Pike Road Dance Academy, Pike Road Show Choir, and Pike Road Theatre Company, as well as a Christmas story read by Town of Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone.
The Town of Pike Road Christmas Spectacular will also highlight the Season of Giving Holiday Collections Drive. The collections drive began on November 25th. It allows the community to contribute winter clothing, hygiene items, non-perishable food items, and packages of diapers at Town Hall. These donations will directly support various organizations including the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System, Food Pantry at Woodland Methodist Church, and Grace Episcopal Church Diaper Drive.
Mayor Stone shared, “The Christmas season is also about giving back as a community and when the people of Pike Road collectively work together, we have power to move mountains! By identifying the needs of our local veterans, helping those in our community who might be struggling to adequately provide for their families, and working with our churches through their own programs.” Mayor Stone continues by saying “The most important goal for us is to recognize the huge difference we can make by applying our passions together as a community to bless and serve others.”
Numerous family-friendly activities are set to enhance the festive atmosphere, with postcards for Santa kits available for pickup and a special mailbox to send them directly to the North Pole. The local Cub Scouts plan to distribute candy canes, and the Pike Road High School Leo Club will be serving up delicious hot chocolate – a perfect pairing to complement the holiday spirit.
Mayor Stone expressed, “There is something very special about standing in front of the Christmas Tree at Town Hall and looking out across the crowd seeing individuals of all generations and neighborhoods coming together as a community! When we have the opportunity to showcase dancers, singers, musicians and others who live in Pike Road while also celebrating something that is very special to us, like Christmas, it is a heartwarming feeling that is very special!”
In closing, Mayor Stone stated, “Because of that, the annual Christmas Spectacular has grown to be one of our town’s favorite events that we host, and we look forward to it every year.”
Residents and area guests have invited all residents to join the Town of Pike Road Christmas Spectacular on December 10, 2024, from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at the Pike Road Town Hall.
The evening will be filled with festive celebrations, community unity, charitable initiatives, and heartwarming memories to cherish.
