With summer temperatures, the Pike Road Ladies Auxiliary (PRLA) is once again asking the community to come together for a cause that directly supports the men and women who serve on the front lines every day. Through its Operation: Hydrate Our Heroes campaign, the Auxiliary is collecting donations of bottled water and sports drinks to help keep Pike Road and Montgomery County’s volunteer firefighters and first responders hydrated throughout the summer.
Whether responding to structure fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, or other calls for service, first responders often spend hours working in the intense Alabama heat. Proper hydration is essential to their health, safety, and ability to continue serving the community when they are needed most.
For the campaign the PRLA encourages residents, businesses, churches, civic organizations, and neighborhoods to donate cases of bottled water or sports drinks. Every contribution, regardless of size, helps ensure local firefighters and emergency personnel have access to much-needed hydration while on duty.
Operation: Hydrate Our Heroes will continue through August 1, giving community members several weeks to participate in this meaningful outreach effort.
Donations can be dropped off at either of the following convenient locations:
Waugh-Mount Meigs Fire Department
20 Line Creek Road
Montgomery, AL
Tucker Pecan Company – Pike Road
15670 Vaughn Road
Pike Road, AL
The Pike Road Ladies Auxiliary hopes the community will continue helping spread the word about the campaign and encourage friends, family members, coworkers, and local businesses to participate.
Before August 1, consider picking up an extra case or two during your next trip to the store. It’s a small act of kindness that can make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of Pike Road’s first responders.
