During a specially called meeting of the Pike Road Schools Board of Education on Monday, June 8, board members officially selected Parker Reiss as the next principal of Pike Road Intermediate School (PRIS). He will lead the Historic Campus through a period of growth that includes a new gym, a lunchroom expansion and additional classrooms.
In a letter to families announcing his appointment, Reiss shared, “I am excited for the opportunity to lead the incredible staff and students of PRIS and continue building upon the strong tradition of excellence that makes Pike Road Schools so special.”
Reiss’s ties to PRIS run deep. He began his career with Pike Road Schools at the Intermediate School, teaching 5th grade on the Historic Campus.
“Returning to the Historic Campus in this new role is especially meaningful to me because this school is where I first fell in love with the Pike Road community,” he said. “The character and charm of our campus, from the hardwood floors and exposed brick to the rich history within these walls, make it a truly special place for learners to grow each day.”
For the past two years, Reiss has served as an assistant principal at Pike Road Elementary School, experience he says prepared him well for the challenges and opportunities ahead at PRIS.
“I am deeply grateful for the growth, mentorship, and relationships I gained during my time there,” he wrote, adding that he looks forward to reconnecting with “rising C4 and C5 learners” and getting to know the rising C6 class. “Pike Road Schools is filled with exceptional students, and I am proud to serve and support them each day.”
As principal, Reiss will oversee PRIS during a significant facilities expansion and grade reconfiguration. The new gym, lunchroom expansion, and added classrooms are designed to support the school’s transition to housing learners from 3rd to 5th grade, a shift that will align resources, staffing, and programming to meet the needs of upper-elementary students.
Reiss emphasized his family’s connection to the district and the community he will serve. “My family is deeply rooted in Pike Road. My wife works within the district, and our daughters attend Pike Road Elementary School,” he said. “Pike Road is more than where we work and attend school, it is home. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve this community in a leadership role and contribute to the continued success of our learners and families.”
Looking ahead to the coming school year, Reiss said he’s eager to partner with families, faculty, and staff to ensure a smooth transition for students and to make the most of the new and expanded facilities. “I look forward to partnering with you and getting to know each learner and family throughout the school year,” he wrote. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as your principal, and I cannot wait to see all that we will accomplish together.”
