After four years leading Pike Road High School (PRHS), Principal Andrea D. Maness will transition to a system role as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Academic Affairs at Pike Road Schools.
Maness shared this announcement with parents, guardians, and families of PRHS students on May 22nd.
“I have accepted a new position with Pike Road Schools as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Academic Affairs,” Maness shared. “While I am excited for this opportunity, it is bittersweet to step away from serving as principal of Pike Road High School.”
She added that PRHS “has truly felt like family and home” and praised the school community for building “a culture of growth, achievement, and excellence.”
In her new role, Maness will oversee secondary academics across both the junior high and high school levels. She said she will serve in a dual capacity until a new principal is selected and will work closely to ensure a smooth handoff.
“I remain committed to supporting our staff, families, and learners and ensuring PRHS continues on the path of stability and success we have worked so hard to build,” Maness said.
Maness, who began her tenure at PRHS at the start of the 2022–2023 school year, is in her 22nd year in education. A Troy, Alabama, native, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Comprehensive Mathematics Education from Troy State University (2004), a master’s in Instructional Leadership and Administration from Troy University Dothan (2012), and an Education Specialist degree from the University of West Alabama (2020).
She is pursuing an Ed.D. in Rural Education with a focus on Organizational Change at the University of West Alabama. Her family lives in Pike Road; her husband, Coach Allen Maness, serves as physical education lead learner at Pike Road Elementary School, and their two children attend Pike Road Schools.
Under Maness’s leadership, PRHS has continued to advance the district’s vision of a culture of excellence. The high school currently serves roughly 850 learners with a staff of about 80 and offers Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment coursework alongside five Career Technical Education programs.
Students also participate in robust extracurricular activities, including athletics, fine arts, and student-led clubs—hallmarks of the school’s commitment to being “Rooted in Growth” and to “Think. Innovate. Create.”—The Pike Road Way.
Maness will remain at PRHS during the transition and will assist the district in onboarding the next principal. Further details about the principal search will be shared by Pike Road Schools when available.
