Pike Road residents are being asked to help chart the future of parks, trails, and community recreation across Montgomery County. Goodwyn, Mills Cawood, the Montgomery County Commission, the City of Montgomery, and the Town of Pike Road are gathering public input to guide a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan for the region.
As part of this effort, two community sessions were hosted on March 26 at 6 PM—one at Chisholm Community Center and another at Gateway Park—giving residents a chance to meet directly with planners, share ideas, and help set priorities for the county’s parks and recreation system.
For those who could not attend, leaders are encouraging residents to complete a new online survey to ensure all voices are heard, including those from Pike Road. The survey invites residents to share what they value most about current parks and recreation offerings, identify areas for improvement, and suggest new amenities or programs that would enhance quality of life across Montgomery County.
According to the survey introduction, it takes about 15–20 minutes to complete and focuses on the many benefits parks, recreation, and open spaces provide. Respondents are asked to:
- Select the top five benefits most important to their household (for example, community character, economic development, and neighborhood open space for social interaction and play).
- Identify the top five challenges most important to their household.
- Provide basic demographic information to validate responses; all answers remain anonymous and confidential.
Feedback collected will directly inform long-term planning and investment decisions for parks, trails, sports facilities, programming, and community spaces throughout the county.
