Pike Road Schools received $777 from Southeast Gas in 2026 as part of the utility’s annual Give Back to Schools initiative, a program that returns dollars to public school systems based on their natural gas usage.
The contribution is part of $140,688 Southeast Gas will distribute to 20 public school systems next year. Since the initiative launched in 2010, the company has redirected more than $2 million to local public schools. Allocation amounts are tied to the previous year’s natural gas consumption—schools that use more gas see a higher financial return.
“Supporting our schools means investing in the next generation of leaders in our community. I was fortunate to attend a local public school, as were many of our employees,” Southeast Gas President and CEO Greg Henderson said. “At Southeast Gas, we believe in supporting these schools, and I am proud that we can make an impact. Over the years, we have been able to reinvest a significant amount of money right back into the schools.”
Beyond the annual Give Back awards, Pike Road students also benefit from Southeast Gas’ Community Service Scholarship, available to seniors in the public school systems the utility serves. The scholarship amount increased this year to $2,000 to help ease financial burdens for graduating students.
Southeast Gas’ support extends beyond funding. Employees across the company volunteer in schools throughout the service area—reading to students, mentoring, tutoring, and assisting with campus improvement projects—efforts that include the systems served by the utility, such as Pike Road Schools.
Pike Road Schools is one of 20 systems participating in the Give Back to Schools initiative, alongside neighboring districts across Southeast Gas’ footprint. The school systems Southeast Gas gives back to are Andalusia City Schools, Butler County Schools, Coffee County Schools, Covington County Schools, Crenshaw County Schools, Dale County Schools, Daleville City Schools, Dothan City Schools, Elba City Schools, Enterprise City Schools, Eufaula City Schools, Henry County Schools, Houston County Schools, Lowndes County Schools, Opp City Schools, Ozark City Schools, Pike County Schools, Pike Road Schools, Russell County School, and Troy City Schools.
