Pike Road Schools is rallying the community for a special one-day food drive this Tuesday, November 4, to support Pike Road students and families affected by the shutdown, including those experiencing furloughs or the loss of SNAP benefits.
Summer Rice, PRS Public Relations Specialist, shared, “This is a district-wide effort and it is not affiliated with any particular school, campus, or group—it’s about Patriots helping Patriots.”
Rice shared, “One Day. One Goal. Full Hearts. is more than a theme—it’s the spirit of Pike Road through this district-wide food drive. In just one day, our Pike Road community can unite around a single purpose: to ensure students and families affected by furloughs or reduced benefits have what they need.
All donations will be collected and delivered to the Woodland Food Pantry, ensuring that all items donated will remain within the Pike Road community and benefit Pike Road families.
On Tuesday, November 4, donations can be dropped off through the car line at Pike Road Elementary School, Pike Road Intermediate School, and Pike Road Junior High and High School on the Georgia Washington Campus.
Additionally, collection boxes will be located outside each school for residents to drop off donations throughout the school day. There will also be a collection box at the Pike Road School Central Office (10350 US Hwy 80) for families and community members who prefer to avoid school traffic.
What to Bring:
- Breakfast foods
- Boxed Meals
- Canned ravioli and spaghetti with meatballs
- Snacks
- Crackers
- Condiments such as mayonnaise, ketchup, and ranch dressing
- Anything is accepted and appreciated.
Rice emphasized that “every can, box, and bag makes a difference, and they thank the community for demonstrating what it means to be Patriots Helping Patriots.”
