The Pike Road Business Association hosted a well-attended Lunch & Learn on Sept. 10 focused on Generations in the Workplace, featuring a dynamic panel of local business leaders and an engaging presentation by Joel Hughes of Troy University Continuing Education and Outreach.
The session explored the challenges and opportunities of managing and collaborating across multiple generations—from the Greatest Generation and Baby Boomers to Gen Z—offering practical strategies to strengthen communication, foster mutual respect, and leverage diverse strengths to drive innovation and productivity. Attendees also enjoyed lunch from SweetCreek Farm Market while networking with fellow professionals and community members.
Event highlights included:
- Generations and identity: How generational titles are defined and why they matter in shaping workplace culture.
- Workplace diversity: Navigating communication styles and expectations across five generations, from the Greatest Generation to Gen Z.
- Intergenerational communication: Bridging gaps between younger leaders and older employees without relying on stereotypes.
