Pike Road Varsity Volleyball Kicks Off Season with Back-to-Back Sweeps at Home Opener

On Thursday, August 28, Pike Road Varsity Volleyball team made a strong statement in their home opener, sweeping both Alabama Christian Academy (ACA) and Prattville High School in straight sets for a 2-0 start to the season.

The evening began with a dominant performance against ACA, where Pike Road won both sets by an identical score of 25-13. The team showed strong offensive and defensive skills, setting the tone for the rest of the night.

In the second match, Pike Road faced Prattville High School and came out blazing in the first set, overwhelming their opponent with a commanding 25-5 victory. They closed out the match with a solid 25-12 win in the second set, securing another sweep and sending a clear message about their strengths early in the season.

Standout Performances
Senior Outside Hitter Isadora Wright led the attack with 10 kills and added 7 digs to her stat line, demonstrating both offensive firepower and defensive resilience. Senior Setter Caroline Davis showcased her playmaking skills with 11 assists, 6 digs, and contributed 2 aces serving. Fellow Senior Setter Elaisa Vazquez also impressed with 10 assists, 6 digs, and 2 aces.

In the middle, Senior Middle Blocker Peyton Hall made a significant impact with 7 kills and 3 blocks, controlling the net. Junior Outside Hitter Mackenzie Anderson chipped in 6 kills, providing consistent offensive support. Junior Libero Lola Gorman was a defensive powerhouse with 14 digs, and Senior DS contributed 9 digs, underscoring the team’s strong backcourt defense.

Coach Latoya Clark praised her team’s performance, saying, “I am incredibly proud of how the Lady Patriots came out strong for our home opener. The back-to-back sweeps demonstrate our dedication and teamwork. Our seniors really stepped up to lead both offensively and defensively, and the energy from every player was outstanding. This is just the beginning, and I’m excited to see how we build on this momentum throughout the season.”

Looking Ahead
The Lady Patriots continue their challenging schedule with away matches on Tuesday, September 2, facing Trinity at 5:00 PM and Auburn at 6:00 PM. Additionally, they will compete in the Mayor’s Cup Tournament on September 5–6 at the Montgomery Cramton Bowl Multiplex, providing an excellent opportunity to test their mettle against top competition.

Fans can catch Pike Road back at home on Wednesday, September 11, for a busy match day featuring Middle School at 4:30 PM, Junior Varsity at 5:30 PM, and Varsity at 6:30 PM against PCA.
