Alligator Uses Alabama Highway as Personal Crossing, Halts Traffic on Mother’s Day

by Montgomery Advertiser

Why did the alligator cross the road?

Of course, to get to the other side! Or at least that is seemingly the case for an alligator in Alabama on Mother’s Day.

In a video taken by a passerby on May 11, the gator is seen crossing the southbound outer loop of I-85 in Pike Road, Alabama, just outside of Montgomery.

It’s not the first time an Alabama alligator has used a highway as its personal crossing. Back in May 2024, another alligator made its way onto a busy Mobile highway and stopped traffic in the process.

The previous gator crawled under a fence to enter Interstate 165 and subsequently blocked traffic with its large size. The reptile would halt travel and gain the attention of local police officers.

The gator was estimated to be 10 to 11 feet long, according to local outlet WKRG.
