Pike Road Schools officials say work being done on the system’s new high school is moving ahead of schedule. It was a point brought up at the annual school board meeting Monday night.
The system is having a 230,000-square-foot facility built on Wallahatchie Road. Officials are optimistic, but hope to have students in the school by January 2027.
“We’re hoping to make the move during Christmas break of ’26,” said PRS Superintendent Dr. Keith Lankford. “We’re working on athletic facilities and the academic building all at the same time. If you drive out there, you actually see blocks coming up out of the ground, bulldozers all over the place, and people working every single day.”
Pike Road has been a fast-growing community for years. The high school is expected to house 1,200 students, but was designed with that growth in mind.
