It’s a delicious tradition that’s making a difference. The Pike Road Patriot Fund hosted a crawfish boil benefiting local students.
In Pike Road, crawfish is more than good food.
“It’s a national holiday, we come out here every year,” one group of students told WSFA.
For some, the taste of freshly boiled crawfish is incomparable to anything else.
When asked what crawfish tastes like, Gracie Watson, a soon-to-be Pike Road High School graduate, said, “This is the best thing God has ever put on this earth.”
It’s a community favorite that benefits local schools’ arts and athletics programs.
“It’s just nice to know that people are pouring back into the schools and our athletics, and it’s really good for us,” Brandt Springer, a Pike Road rising senior said.
With live music, unlimited crawfish, and their own mascot, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
“I would say the music, and all of the people from Pike Road coming together, and obviously the crawfish because it’s so good,” Rebekah Lucas, a Pike Road rising senior, said when asked what her favorite part of the day is.
Bringing the community together to support the youth and having fun while doing it.
Crawfish boil committee members told WSFA they have been able to give around 220,000 dollars to Pike Road Schools over the course of their 13 year history.
