Pike Road High School senior, Cody Kirk, has made headlines in the wrestling world after a stellar performance at the 36th Annual National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) wrestling tournament held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, VA. This tournament is recognized as the pinnacle of high school wrestling in the country, drawing talented wrestlers from all corners of the United States to compete for the coveted title of All-American.
Cody’s journey to the national title was nothing short of impressive. Competing in the 182 LB weight class, Cody showcased his skill and determination as he triumphed over his opponents, culminating in a final match against Jameson Maynard of Wheeling, WV. In a display of sheer talent and perseverance, Cody emerged victorious, securing the national title and earning his rightful place on the top of the podium.
Prior to his success at the NHSCA tournament, Cody had already established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the wrestling community. As a member of the Pike Road High School wrestling team, he claimed the title of 6A Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) champion in the 190 lb weight class, showcasing his dominance in the sport.
Cody’s accolades extend beyond his triumph at the NHSCA tournament. He recently achieved a national runner-up finish at the prestigious 2025 US Open U20 Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas. Competing in the challenging 82 kg weight class, Cody surpassed expectations by clinching four consecutive victories, defeating top-seeded opponents on his path to the finals.
Despite falling short in the championship match against Gavin Ricketts of Kentucky, Cody’s performance at the US Open U20 Championships earned him a spot in the World Team Trials, where he will proudly represent the Stronghold Wrestling Club of Alabaster. His dedication to the sport and unwavering commitment to excellence have solidified his reputation as a rising star in the wrestling arena.
Cody Kirk’s remarkable achievements, which include victories at the NHSCA High School Nationals and the US Open U20 Championships, underscore his versatility and skill in both Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling. Cody has signed to continue his wrestling career in college by signing with Davidson College.
