Pike Road is gearing up for a star-spangled celebration, inviting residents and neighbors to SummerFest: Celebrating 250 Years of America—an evening of family-friendly fun, fireworks, patriotism, and community connection on Thursday, June 25.
Set at the Pike Road Agriculture, Recreation & Performing Arts Park (6281 Trotman Rd), festivities begin at 6 p.m., with fireworks set to light up the sky just after dark. From 6 to 8:30 p.m., guests can enjoy food trucks, kids’ activities—including inflatables, yard games, arts and crafts—and live patriotic music. Ample green space will be available for lawn chairs and picnic blankets, and the ball fields will be open for picnics, play, and prime fireworks viewing.
In honor of America250, the evening will feature special experiences and appearances by Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty. Attendees can contribute to a community rolling mural, sharing what the nation’s 250th anniversary means to them. A military flag display will recognize the Armed Forces, accompanied by each service branch’s song.
Admission is free, and the Town encourages everyone to share their moments using #MyPikeRoad and #PikeRoadSummerFest. Parking opens at 6 p.m. in the West Parking Lot of the park. Handicap parking will be available at the East Entrance near the ball fields. An event map and a sneak peek at food vendor menus will be released soon.
Event guidelines:
- Picnics are welcome; no alcoholic beverages permitted.
- Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are welcome; no tents permitted.
- SummerFest is a tobacco, e-cigarette, and smoke-free event.
Quilt Drawing to Honor America250
Adding a heartfelt touch to the celebration, the Town of Pike Road and the Pike Road Quilters are offering a unique community fundraising opportunity: the 250th American Independence Celebration Quilt. This one-of-a-kind, artist-crafted heirloom will be awarded through a drawing during SummerFest at approximately 7:30 p.m. For a $5 donation, participants receive one entry; ticket holders do not need to be present to win. Donations benefiting the Pike Road Quilters can be made at Pike Road Town Hall, 9575 Vaughn Road.
“Every quilt has a story, and some of them are very sentimental,” said Pike Road Quilter Chris Sandstrom. “This quilt is special because of what it represents.”
“Pike Road is such a patriotic-minded community. We always have been,” added Charlene Rabren, longtime resident and Pike Road Quilter. “When we started our town, it was because we really wanted to have our voice heard. As we formed the Town of Pike Road, we decided to make our mascot the Patriots. We are a very patriotic community. We love America, we love being a part of that, and to be where we are, it’s just so comforting.”
The quilt’s creation underscores the community’s longstanding pride and patriotism, offering a meaningful keepsake to mark the nation’s milestone anniversary.
